Can I integrate a Rooftop Light with the system?

TaxiCaller offers an integration that allows your drivers’ rooftop lights to automatically change status based on their job state in the TaxiCaller for Drivers App (for example, Available or Busy).

Note: The TaxiCaller Shuttle App does not currently support Rooftop lights. Only TaxiCaller for Drivers.

How It Works

• The driver updates their status from available to busy. (For example, by accepting a job or initiating a street pick)
• A Bluetooth dongle (relay module) acts as a bridge between the phone and the rooftop light.
• The rooftop light switches automatically based on the driver’s status.
• When a job is completed and the driver becomes available again, the light switches back automatically.

Requirements

To use this integration, you will need:

1. A Compatible Bluetooth Dongle (Relay Module)

We can confirm compatibility with the following device:

DSD TECH 2-Channel Bluetooth Relay Module (Available on Amazon)

Other Bluetooth relay modules may also work, but we cannot guarantee compatibility.

2. A Bluetooth-Controllable Rooftop Light

You will need a rooftop light that:

• Can be controlled via Bluetooth
• Is compatible with your chosen Bluetooth dongle
• Is properly installed in the vehicle

Activation Process

Step 1 – Contact TaxiCaller Support

Before setup, please contact our Support Team and inform us which Bluetooth dongle you are using.

Our technical team will then enable the rooftop light integration on your account.

Step 2 – Configure in the Driver App

Once we confirm that the integration has been enabled:

1. Open the Driver App.
2. Go to the app settings.
3. Under the Bluetooth Dongle option, select your dongle from the list of available devices.
4. Connect the rooftop light to the dongle.
5. Test by switching between Available and Busy statuses.

Important Notes

• TaxiCaller provides the system integration only.
• Hardware (dongle and rooftop light) must be purchased and installed separately.
• We cannot guarantee compatibility between the recommended dongle and your chosen rooftop light.
• We cannot guarantee compatibility between other dongles and the driver app.
