How do I set up Permits?

When setting up permits, you can choose whether to enforce permits for drivers, or simply use the feature to collect and manage documents without preventing drivers from working.

Enabled

When a permit is set to Enabled, the permit is active and drivers can upload the required documentation. However, there is no enforcement at this stage — drivers can continue working even if they have not uploaded a permit.

This option is useful if you want to collect permit documents for record-keeping or begin rolling out permit management without restricting drivers.

Required

When a permit is set to Required, the permit is enforced. Drivers must have a valid, in-date permit approved by a dispatcher before they can start a shift.

If a required permit is missing, expired, or pending approval, the driver will not be able to begin working.

Important

A permit can be:

  • Enabled only (document collection, no enforcement), or
  • Enabled and Required (document collection with enforcement)

A permit cannot be set to Required only. The permit must first be enabled for the requirement setting to have any effect.
