How do I set up SMS notifications via a third-party sender?

If you prefer to use an SMS provider other than Twilio or Connectel, TaxiCaller can support integration via webhooks, provided the provider offers a compatible API.

This allows you to send passenger SMS notifications through your chosen SMS platform instead of the Envelope App or drivers’ devices…

Step 1 – Contact TaxiCaller Before Proceeding

Before creating credentials or purchasing services from a new SMS provider, please contact our Support Team and let us know which provider you would like to use.

Please include:

  • The name of the SMS provider
  • A link to their API documentation (if available)

Our technical team will review the documentation to confirm whether the integration is compatible with TaxiCaller.

We strongly recommend waiting for confirmation before proceeding further with the provider.

Step 2 – Prepare Your Provider Account

Once we confirm compatibility, you will need:

  • An active account with your selected SMS provider
  • Access to the provider’s API documentation
  • The required API credentials (such as API key, authorization token, endpoint URL, sender number, etc.)

Our Support Team will confirm exactly which details are required for your specific provider.

Step 3 – Provide Credentials to TaxiCaller

Send the requested API credentials to our Support Team.

Our technical team will configure the integration and notify you once it is active.

Activation

After setup is completed:

  • All passenger SMS notifications will be routed through your selected provider
  • The Envelope App will no longer be required for SMS delivery
  • SMS billing will be handled directly by your chosen provider

Important

TaxiCaller does not charge for setting up an SMS integration. However, please note that third-party SMS providers charge separately for:

  • SMS messages sent
  • Phone number rental (if applicable)
  • Any additional provider-specific fees
