Unable to Install APK on an Android Device and you receive "App Not Installed" Error

If you receive an “App not installed” error when trying to install an APK file on an Android device, Google Play Protect may be preventing the installation.

Follow the steps below:

  • Open the Google Play Store on the Android device.
  • Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  • Select Play Protect.
  • Tap the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  • Locate Scan apps with Play Protect.
  • Turn this option off.
  • Try installing the APK file again.

Note: Disabling Play Protect reduces the security checks performed on apps installed on the device. Only install APK files from trusted sources.
