Taxi Caribe - From Start-Up to Local Leader
When Yorgui Kattan and Leonardo Moreno first met as dispatchers at another company in the same taxi industry, they had no idea they were laying the foundation for something much bigger. “From the beginning, well, we became friends,” Yorgui recalls. That friendship soon turned into a shared vision.
After gaining experience at two very different taxi companies, they saw an opportunity to combine the best parts of each and build something better, on their own terms. So they made the leap and started Taxi Caribe. What began as an idea is now a fast-growing taxi service that thousands of riders use each week.
Building with Trust & Vision
Their journey took shape alongside Danny, their third co-founder, based in Bradenton. He brought more than just skills—he shared the same entrepreneurial mindset and belief in what they were building. Between them, they covered everything: tech, operations, and the human side of the business.
Taxi Caribe officially launched in November 2022. But like any new venture, the early days were tough. “There were moments we thought, What the hell… things are really slow. Is this actually going to work?” Yorgui remembers.
But within just a few months, things started clicking. Yourgi explains:
“If we manage to have 20, 30 active cars, it would be a brutal success. And today we are averaging between 100 and 110 weekly. In fact, in March this year, we activated 121 vehicles.”
Number of vehicles activated in the TaxiCaller system in December each year.
The Power of TaxiCaller
When it came time to pick a dispatch system, the choice was easy. They went with what they knew—and trusted. It provided the tools they needed to operate efficiently, supervise in real time, and deliver high-quality service. From live GPS tracking to taximeter visibility and real-time supervision, the platform helped them stay on top of things. It was reliable, simple once you learned the logic, and most importantly, it could grow with them. Yorgui explains the value of TaxiCaller:
“We have everything at hand to work in the best way… from the supervision part, to offering both drivers and clients the best possible service. As long as the logic is understood, it ends up being quite simple.”
Serving a Human-Centered Niche
While the industry trend points toward automation and self-service, Taxi Caribe has taken a different route. They’ve built their business around a specific community: the Latin American population in the U.S.—a group that, in their experience, prefers talking to real people. Leonardo explains what their customers value:
“They prefer to pick up the phone, to talk to someone real – not a bot. And that’s exactly what we offer.”
They implemented technology not to replace people, but to enhance human service, allowing them to respond faster, track rides better, and ensure drivers never miss key client details.

Operational Simplicity, Strategic Growth
Taxi Caribe also focuses on the benefits for the drivers who provide services to the company, allowing them to keep 100% of the earnings they generate. They only pay a monthly subscription fee. Behind the scenes, the team has put a lot of thought into making things consistent – from how drivers use the system to how messages are answered on WhatsApp and Facebook. Leonardo explains what they mean.
“We want it to feel like the same experience whether you speak with Leo, Yorgui, or Danny”.
Growth has been strategic, and even though they have far exceeded their initial expectations, they have big plans moving forward. Right now, they’re building out their presence in Bradenton, Palmetto, and Sarasota—growing only where it makes sense. They’ve also begun solidifying their brand with new marketing efforts and a formal brand book.
Showing Up, Day After Day
When asked about their growth, one word keeps coming up: consistency. There’s no magic formula, just a commitment to showing up, refining the details, and serving their community with honesty. Leonardo formulates the importance of it:
“Today’s result is the action of 6, 7, 10 months ago. That’s the snowball effect.”
Words of Wisdom
Their advice to others in the industry is grounded in experience. Yorgui puts it into words, and Leonardo and Danny agree:
“This is a beautiful line of work—but it requires consistency, humility, and resilience. Every dispatcher, driver, and client contributes to our success. No one does it alone.”
